Free Android Application Development in 24 Hours, Sams Teach Yourself
The Android OS has gone through significant changes since its inception and this updated version addresses them. Layout Managers in particular are one area that challenge programmers and this book covers that topic well, as well as others. Recommended!

Many of the examples in the book are either incomplete, or contain errors! Unless you already know Eclipse and Java (in that case, why are you buying this book?), you are going to be very confused. On the up side, this book will not let you just copy the code examples and not learn the language. You are going to do enough research to find the correct coding that you WILL learn Android Application development. (e.g. Better plan on about 10 hours for lesson 2.) I bought the Sams "IOS6 Application Development" and it was OUTSTANDING! I used it and was able to develop an iPhone app. I found none of the issues with it, that are in this book.
