Free Introduction to Public Health
I took Intro to Public Health last semester and I seriously LOVED this book. It is very rare for a college student to say that they actually enjoy reading their textbook but I sure did with this book as I actually read every chapter. This book covered topics from every major field of public health (health policy, environment, epidemiology, biostatistics, health behavior, maternal and child health, and so on). The only potential problem is that this book is primarily written from a United States perspective, with global health problems scattered throughout the book. She writes in a very raw manner, making her case for public health, and letting us know how relevant it is in our world since public health literally surrounds us everywhere. Sometimes, she is even sarcastic in her speech as she attacks conservative politics and ideas on a regular basis. She makes sure to point out the ironies of the Republican party and how they have been detrimental to the progress of public health. In almost every chapter, she attacks the Bush administration which I personally do not have a problem with. If you are a Republican or very conservative, you will probably very easily get offended.

I purchased this book for a class and I must say that it's been a pretty good read for a textbook!! I will definately be referring back to it frequently. I especially like the fact that the kindle version gives you APA citation information if you copy and paste anything from the text. That was VERY helpful for writing research papers.
