The definitive guide to the knowledge and skills necessary to practice Hospital Medicine
Presented in full color and enhanced by more than 700 illustrations, this authoritative text provides a background in all the important clinical, organizational, and administrative areas now required for the practice of hospital medicine. The goal of the book is provide trainees, junior and senior clinicians, and other professionals with a comprehensive resource that they can use to improve care processes and performance in the hospitals that serve their communities.
Each chapter opens with boxed Key Clinical Questions that are addressed in the text and hundreds of tables encapsulate important information. Case studies demonstrate how to apply the concepts covered in the text directly to the hospitalized patient.

Free Principles and Practice of Hospital Medicine
The content is not bad.
However several major drawbacks.
1.This 8.2 lb monster is like the Brontosaurus ; too cumbersome to lift or carry around without arm/shoulder/back injury. Hospitalists are busy agile folks always on the go. They have no luxury to indulge in desktop giants.
2.Reading the font of text is a pain.
McGraw Hill(Publisher) used ultra-light cheap ink for main text ( only items spared are the figures. cases and practice points).
3.The text pages are see-thru (flimsy and as thin as toilet paper).
Save yourself money, eyestrain, headaches and musculoskeletal injury - just stay away from this heavy pile of paper-weight.

Bought the Kindle version and love it for the most part. It's full of in-depth and up-to-date information to guide patient management from the perspective of a hospitalist. Extremely useful coverage of hospital medicine core competencies.
My only issue is that much of the information in the tabular format doesn't translate well into the Kindle - at least not the version I have. The writing is either too small to read or one table has been dissected oddly into a few parts which often defeats the purpose of being able to review information in a table.
It's great to be portable but wish I had the hard copy of the textbook, too.
