Free Wireless Safety
This book is a brain dump. It goes through each wireless technology & gives you the specificiation ( frequency, bandwidth, data rate, & etc) & then moves onto the next specification. It also lists in simple bullet format the advantages & disadvantages of each specification. This book says it is designed for novice IT professionals, but it is not. This book is more of a study guide than anything else. If you know wireless technologies pretty well, then this book is for you. If you are like me & haven't discussed anything in my previous courses about wireless except to define what a WLAN, WMAN, & etc is then you will be confused. Chp 5 covered over 20 specifications in 19 pages. No depth at all. The information was very surface level. You will not remember anything. My advice is don't take this class online. Class instruction would be better. Then the professor can outline which of these specifications/technologies are important, so you can focus your studies on those particular topics.
The review questions are very basic. 75% of the review questions are definitions. Another 15% are fill in the blank for definitions. The last 10% are essay questions or compare & contract 2 specifications questions.
My final advice is if you have to take this course for class pick up this book. (What choice do you have) If you are trying to get thorough knowledge of different wireless technologies, this book is not for you. This is a brain dump book. Memorize the book. Take the test & pass the test. Forget everything you learn.
