Free Professional Visual Basic 2012 and .NET 4.5 Programming
I am buying this series "Professional Visual Basic.net" since Version 2005 I think and was always really happy about the book. These Wrox "monster" books cover so much knowledge in medium to high detail that it's always very helpful to read and for research when needing knowledge about the .Net features and if they are suitable for someone's development projects.
If you ever needed more than what's written in the book you would consult the internet or other book to dive deeper into the subject you are interested in.
These books were / are perfect in my opinion.
I was really looking forward in getting the newest version of that book for Visual Basic 2012. This book has been updated with new feature of .Net framework 4.5 which is great.
The problem I have is that so much was left out/removed.
The predecessor "professional Visual Basic 2010 and .Net 4.0 programming" had 34 chapters and about 1200 pages in very small print.
This one has only 850 pages and 20 chapters in a bigger font.
So much has been removed from that book. Chapters like UnitTesting, Sharepoint development, network programming, assemblies and reflection and many more have just been removed completley.
That's my only criticism, but it's a big one.
This book is still worth buying but I'm a bit disappointed. So 4 out of 5 stars.
