Free Java For Dummies
This book seemed to be more of a Java for C Programmers, rather than a Java for Dummies. I guess that's OK, but my son was really hoping for a book that started from square one. So if you're a good programmer in another language, this book will shepherd you through Java differences pretty well. If you only know a language like HTML and want to be able to program applications in Java, not so good.

This book was very helpful. I was hired as a Java Software Development trainee. The book provided by the company was ok but tended to be long winded. The on line support for Java For Dummies was easier to understand. The price was very good. I recommend to anyone seeking Java stuff.
