Free Absolute C++, Student Value Edition
I am a college student with thorough background in Java and C++. This book is excellent. The other reviewer described it as "too complicated" for the average student. It says in the preface of the book that they strongly recommend that the reader has some background in programming before reading, or to purchase a more elementary level book. This is the reason it was described as "too complicated". This book is NOT for beginners, it is for intermediate C++ students or students who are familiar with other programming languages. If you already have some programming under your belt, then this book is PERFECT for you. It has great practice programs and explanations of all necessary concepts in the C++ language. If you are beginning C++, I recommend a more beginner's book by the same author which was WONDERFUL as I was just learning C++ (I had a very dry teacher and this book saved my life). It is the eight edition of Problem Solving with C++. Here is the link [...] Good luck coding!

We have this book for our introduction to C++ programming first year of electrical engineering. It is very complete, but too complicated for beginners. Experienced programmers in my classes liked the book, but for me I preffered using online tutorials rather then use the book. If you are starting in prog, take another book or do onlines tutorials instead, but if you already have experience in prog, then this book migth be good for you.
