Best Care Anywhere shows that vast swaths of what we think we know about health, health care, and medical economics are just plain wrong. And the book demonstrates how this extraordinarily cost-effective model, which has proven to be highly popular with veterans, can be made available to everyone. New to this edition is an analysis of how the shortcomings of both so-called Obamacare and Republican plans to privatize Medicare reinforce the need for applying the lessons of the VA. Also included are completely updated statistics and research, as well as examples of how the private sector is already beginning to learn from the VA’s example.Books with free ebook downloads available Free Best Care Anywhere: Why VA Health Care Would Work Better For Everyone (Bk Currents Book) [Kindle Edition]

Free Best Care Anywhere: Why VA Health Care Would Work Better For Everyone
Longman's 1st edition was excellent, but this 3rd addition, besides delivering an excellent functional and historical overview of the VA system, integrates a cogent analysis of why the Affordable Care Act of 2010 falls short of being a viable approach to solving the myriad problems inherent in our current healthcare "system" (or really, better said, our lack of a system). This book will be instructive for the interested layperson, as well as for those who are actually providing healthcare. That said, this is an easy and informative read. Longman's strength here is his full and detailed documentation, in the form of footnotes, for every stated fact; this attention to facts is quite refreshing during a time when many conversations on this subject devolve into hyperbolic rhetoric based on untruths and emotional reactivity.
By RICHARD H MCCLURG
Extremely well written and concise portrayal of the serious problems with the health care system and how the VA's system has solved many of these problems. The author makes some very compelling arguments regarding the pathway to improvement. And, it's easy to read!
