Free Beginning ASP.NET 4.5: in C# and VB
A very good book that works as an introduction into web development. The book is very detailed oriented and unlike so many code downloads of other books that I have bought in the past, I haven't had too many issues with the code being able to run and do what it is supposed to do. There is some configuration involved but for the most part the author pretty much holds your hand and walks you through the examples, which is quite nice, which is totally unlike the other books that I have used where many times the code crashes the moment you try to run it for the first time. The author covers a broad range of topics but mainly his focus is database usability with the C# and VB in a ASP.NET 4.5 environment. He is also very good about answering questions in the p2p wrox forum. Most authors in the p2p forum never answer questions on their books. This guy takes a very pro-active approach to supporting his book, which is very refreshing. The only drawback to that is that he can get pretty cranky sometimes if you submit a question that he doesn't like or that he thinks isn't appropriate to the material covered in the book. I know that he has gotten crosswise with me on numerous occassions when I have posted questions in the forum that he doesn't deem appropriate to the forum or that he doesn't like. But other than that, I recommend this book to anyone who wants a really good jumpstart into the world of ASP.NET 4.5 computing and web development. It is a whole heck of a lot better than the dummies book or the SAMS or Sitepoint books in my opinion. I have even taken the time out to recommend this book to many of my fellow students and instructors in my iPhone and Android software development classes that I took just recently.
