The negative reviews all pertain to things OTHER THAN THE CONTENT of this book -- the book is a good read, covers the details needed to pass the exam in outlined sections in good detail.
I've got my Security+ certification, and now pursue CASP status -- will update when test is taken.

After having fully read the book... the content is gold, but the typos are frequent and in some cases really bad, such as section reviews that provide question and answers to help prepare for the test.....are simply wrong. I have a feeling the vast majority of errors were created when this book was converted to digital format for the kindle... but in all honesty
there a TON OF TYPOS... those were really distracting to me...
Another small point of interest.... there are several terms in the glossary of this book that are not mentioned once in the text of the book...and there are even typos in glossary.

The book covers all of the topics that the exam will cover. A couple of comments: 1) The book has a number of sections which repeat themselves and 2) there were a number of typos. As an exam study aid, the information was provided effectively and without overwhelming technical jargon.
