Purchased this book to use in a recent transition to a new practice area; the book, hardbound, turned out to weigh more than I could manage, even as a desk reference. Technically, this book weighs 8+ pounds; but add in the hard covers, and you have an albatross!
Now, switch to the electronic version of this book, and you have a streamlined gem! No, I'm not referring to the Kindle version, but to Unbound Medicine's superb version that is native to the iPad, iPhone, and available on any browser.
Griffith's 5-Minute Clinical Consult provides an insightful overview of a given condition - Lyme Disease, Pharyngitis, Acute Cholecystitis, AOM - diagnostic considerations, treatment standards (with options for allergies, pregnancy, other special considerations), and ICD-9, SNOMED, ICD-10 codes, and finally, references. All of this in about 2-5 minutes for the average reader.
There are also the diagnostic algorithms/charts that 5MCC is justly famous for. These are outstanding for approaching a problem in a step-wise fashion.
All-in-all, a valuable clinical reference. Choose your format based on your biceps or your hand arthritis...
